SIKESTON -- This weekend is going to the dogs.

Search and rescue dogs from the Scott County Search and Rescue K-9 Unit and other teams in the region will perform tests Saturday and Sunday for certification by the North American Police Working Dog Association.

The tests are conducted by Mike Best of Joplin, according to Marshia Morton, captain of Scott County Search and Rescue K-9 Unit.

"He is a master trainer, one of only eight in the nation qualified to do the human remains detection testing for NAPWDA," Morton said. "It is the largest and oldest organization of its type."
