SIKESTON -- Patsy Loretta Slayden, 73, formerly of East Prairie, died at 2:05 p.m. June 1 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born April 10, 1939, in Success, Ark., daughter of the late John and Vada Samons Hopper, she retired from the Brown Shoe Company and was employed by Avon.

On March 11, 1956, she married William Richard Slayden who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2011.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, David Richard and Terra Slayden of Diehlstadt and Johnny Robert and Cheryl Slayden of East Prairie; two daughters and one son-in-law, Phyllis Jean Slayden of East Prairie and Debbie Lynne and Gary Worthy of Charleston; three brothers, Gary Hopper of Martin, Tenn., and Chester Hopper and Dugan Hopper of Charleston; three sisters, Carolyn Grant of Danville, Ill., Marilyn Hopper of Atlanta, Ga., and Eloise Stevens of New Haven, Miss.; and eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Ken Johnson, chaplain of Legacy Hospice, officiating.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
