Over $35K obtained in drug case forfeiture

CHARLESTON -- The Mississippi County schools will benefit following the conviction of a drug dealer.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, a total of $35,760 was obtained in a forfeiture on the drug case, State versus Richard Hensley. According to reports the money was located during the drug arrest which led to the conviction of Hensley.

Criminal forfeiture is a sentencing option only if the statute used to convict the offender also provides for forfeiture, the sheriff explained.
