City hires law firm

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston City Council approved a resolution during a special meeting Thursday afternoon authorizing a professional services contract with the Greensfelder, Hempker and Gale law firm in St. Louis.

The decision to hire the firm to investigate the possible mishandling of important correspondence regarding the Federal Emergency Management Agency's new flood plain maps had previously been agreed to by a unanimous vote during a July 2 Council meeting closed to the public.
