DEXTER -- Even before she was crowned the 2012 National Junior Teen at the Princess America Pageant last month in Orlando, Fla., Dexter teen Lauren Thrower knew she had already won just by being there.

"I've always wanted to do a big pageant like this my whole life," the 14-year-old said. "I thought even if I don't win, it's a good experience. It builds good character."

Lauren, who will be a freshman at Dexter High School, is the daughter of Bob Thrower and Lori Hawkins of Dexter.

In April, Lauren was crowned Miss Missouri Junior Teen during a competition in Shreveport, La.
