Blaze battled

Fire personnel from the Miner Fire Department, Sikeston Department of Public Safety's Fire Division, Scott County Rural Fire Department, Oran Fire Department and the NBC Fire Department responded at around 3 p.m. Monday to DeWitt Tool on Highway 62. Miner Fire Chief Chris Smith said it appears the fire began at the rear of the business. A state fire marshal will be on the scene today to determine the cause of the blaze, Smith said. The business was heavily damaged by the blaze which shut down traffic along the highway as personnel battled the fire.
