Patrol, MoDOT urging motorists to play it safe on roads this holiday

SIKESTON -- The Patrol and MoDOT are hoping safe arrivals are something everyone can be thankful for.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Missouri Department of Transportation are again urging motorists to plan ahead and play it safe.

"Traditionally Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the year," said Trooper C.D. Parrott, public information officer for the Patrol's Troop E. "This Wednesday is the single busiest travel day of the year: Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday so many folks plan accordingly and take Friday off."

And the Sunday following Thanksgiving is second only to the Wednesday before the holiday for the top travel day, he said.
