DEXTER -- Dwight Russell McQuary, 79, died Nov. 20, 2012, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born July 31, 1933, in Dexter, to the late Broyles Sumner and Ada Ray McQuary, he graduated from Dexter High School then joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He then attended Logan College in St. Louis and returned to Dexter to start a chiropractic practice until he was hired by Shelter Insurance as a claims adjuster. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1969 to continue his career with Shelter Insurance until he retired.

In 1990, at Dexter, he married Muriel Joy Kilmer who preceded him in death in 2006.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Wayne McQuary.

Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Carolyn McQuary of Tallahassee, Fla., John and Ana McQuary of Stuttgart, Germany, and David and Susan McQuary of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

The Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
