CHARLESTON - A sharp-eyed citizen helped prevent a robbery.

At 10 20 a.m. Monday, the Charleston Department of Public Safety received a call of suspicious activity behind the Casey's General Store, 1202 South Main St. in Charleston.

According to DPS Director Robert Hearnes, responding officers discovered two males behind the business wearing ski masks.

"The males fled on foot but were apprehended after a short foot pursuit," Hearnes said in a news release. "After an investigation, it was determined that the officers had thwarted a robbery."

Being held in the Mississippi County Jail on charges of second degree attempted robbery and resisting arrest are Cornelius David, 23, and Questus Kent, 17, of Charleston. Bond is set at $50,000.
