CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Joe Charles Hager, 76, died March 11, 2013, at his home.
Born Jan. 19, 1937, in Painton, to the late Charles Henry "Fudge" and Grace B. Jewel Widner Hager, he was a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force for nine years. He retired from the Cottonbelt Railroad in Scott City where he worked on the Bridge Gang. He was also a member of the First Church of God in Cape Girardeau and former member of the Masonic Lodge.
On Aug. 7, 1965, he married Sylvia Griswell who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Toliver and Wendy Hager of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Joe Charles Hager and fiancee Shanna Robert of Scott City; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn and Gary Brinkman and Janet Lee Lolmaugh and fiance Billy Cross of Springtown, Texas, and Janet Fay and Tim Junker of Friedheim; one sister, Linda Kay Hess of Jackson; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Revs. Mark Ramsey and Roger Christensen will officiate.
Burial with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
