Wheeler tied for 8th after Day 1 of state golf meet

SEDALIA -- The remaining three members of the Sikeston golf team wrapped up their first day of the Class 3 state golf tournament on Monday at the Sedalia Country Club.

Finishing the highest of the three was Gabe Wheeler. The sophomore is among five golfers who tied for eighth in the tournament with scores of 75.

Both Kirk Hoggatt and Connor Landers completed their days with rounds of 82, tying them for 48th place with five other golfers.

All three members of the team will look to improve their scores on the second and final round, which will take play today.
