SIKESTON -- David Craig was sure of the direction of his life. He was farming, married with a family and active in the Methodist Church at Essex.

However, others saw more in Craig than he saw in himself. But, he admits, he didn't want to listen.

Craig recalled one of the leaders in his church told him about a congregation in need of pastor. He told Craig to take the job.

"I didn't want to go," Craig said. "I didn't see me as a pastor. But I trusted him. That's how I got started."

That was in January of 1979.
