On a dreary Monday afternoon, youngsters from kindergarten through second grade filled the Sikeston Public Library's McMannis Reading Room to take part in the Summer Reading Program. With a theme of pirates, the children listened to stories then created their own pirate maps and donned hats and eye patches before taking part in games. Katie Rose Ressell reacts as her friend Laurel Towery puts on her eye patch. The Summer Reading program will continue with weekly programs for various age groups through July.
