SIKESTON -- Another night on the water-logged arena floor led to some disappointing finishes for many of the competitors on Thursday at the 61st annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.

No one could unseat the previous night's winner Heath Allan Demoss' high score of 84 in the saddle bronc riding, though Chet Johnson came close with an 82 to lead the night. Wyatt Barstow and Cole Bilbro both posted scores of 78 to tie for second place on the night.

One event that did see an new overall leader was bull riding as Corey Granger posted an 86 that left him eight points ahead of his nearest competitor in good shape the rest of the week. Mason Lowe and Freeman Yoder were the only two other riders to finish their rides on the night with scores of 78 and 71 respectively.

In barrel racing, Laura Kennedy easily beat all comers to win the night with a time of 16.96 seconds and also place third overall in the standings.
