High speed chase ends in arrest; charges pending

SIKESTON -- A Dexter man was arrested following a high-speed chase after taking his brother's car.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a call at about 1:44 p.m. Sunday from a man who said his brother took his car from a car wash at the corner of Linn and Ingram without permission, according to DPS Capt. Bill Mygatt.

Mygatt said DPS officers began pursuit of the vehicle at State Highway HH and Ingram which ended at about 2:01 p.m. at the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department in Charleston where the man got out of the vehicle and attempted to run away on foot but was caught a short distance away.

Terry Kennedy, 44, of Dexter, was arrested and is in custody with charges pending at the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
