Pending lawsuit

This is Sept. 4. Recently in the last week or so we read a Page One story in the St. Louis Post Dispatch that the Missouri attorney general, who may be our next governor, has filed a lawsuit against Walgreen's of Chicago for overpricing items in Walgreen drugstores in areas such as Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbia, Lake of the Ozarks, Springfield among others. He is bringing this lawsuit against Walgreen's for overpricing items, especially sale items. That's his agenda. Your newspaper has not reported that as of yet. My complaint about the local affiliate is that when you call, it takes forever to get a live operator. When you finally do get a live operator, they read their welcome to Walgreen's speech so fast you can't understand what they are saying. And then when you ask them to transfer your call to the pharmacy for a refill, they put you on hold, sometimes long enough that you have to call back 3 or 4 times. That would be my local complaint. I don't know how the lawsuit will turn out, but who knows - it may help him get elected as our next governor of Missouri.

Donations for cemetery

The Blodgett Cemetery is maintained completely on donations. This year it has been mowed every time money was available. The Village of Blodgett cannot accept donations. In order for them to take care of the cemetery, it would be from taxation. Therefore, the cemetery committee takes care of it. Donations can be sent to Blodgett Cemetery Fund, 3557 State Highway H, Sikeston, Mo. 63801.
