More power to you

I would like to commend the city of New Madrid on settling negotiations at the power plant. The life's blood that will be flowing into this community, we will be able to get new businesses. We will be able to improve the city. They are talking about building a community center. Hopefully there will be a swimming pool so some of these kids can learn to swim. There will be new businesses in our town. This will make a world of difference in our town. I commend our board of directors, the city administrator, the commissioners, anyone who had a part of this. I think this will be the life blood of our town and we are going to see New Madrid grow like it never has before. Thanks also to the mayor for making this a better city than what it was. We have an excellent school system. Working together, I think we can move forward and be one of the most industrious and tourism cities in the Bootheel. Good job.

You go first, we'll go second

City policy got it backwards. If you have an electrical problem on the weekends, you have to call a private contractor first. Then if it's on the city, they will send somebody out. Why wouldn't the city somebody out first, and if it's on you then you can call a private contractor? In my case it was on the city and I had to spend $50 for somebody to come out and tell me it was the city's problem, not mine.
