Bond reduction request by Sikeston man accused of killing wife is denied
BENTON -- A bond reduction request by a Sikeston man accused of killing his wife was denied, and his preliminary hearing continued Wednesday in Scott County.
Stevie Cordale Lott, 41, is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
Lott appeared before Judge Scott Horman Wednesday afternoon in Scott County's Association Division Court at the Judicial Building in Benton.
Horman denied the request to reduce the $250,000-bond but did allow the continuance. A preliminary hearing for Lott is now scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12 before Horman.
Around 3 a.m. Sept. 12, Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call in reference to a domestic disturbance on John R. Boulevard in Sikeston. Upon officers' arrival, they located the body of Lott's 26-year-old wife, Nyketia Lott. She had a gunshot wound to the head and was alone in the home when police arrived. Lott was taken into custody two hours later.
