Risco takes home junior high conference title in double overtime win

DEERING -- The Risco junior high basketball team took first place in the Tri-County Conference tournament Thursday at Delta C-7 High School in Deering.

The Tigers defeated Delta C-7 27-23 in double overtime.

A 3-pointer by Garrett Young with 10 seconds left in the last overtime gave Risco a 3-point lead. The Tigers added a late free throw to ice the game and avenge an earlier season loss to the Chargers.

Mason Burnett led Risco with 14 points. James Riddell and Morgan Ludwig added six and four points respectively.

Risco, the tournament's second seed, fell behind 19-11 after three quarters but outscored the Chargers 10-2 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Although they won the conference tournament, Risco (14-1) ended in a three-way tie with Delta C-7 and Cooter for the regular season crown.
