SIKESTON -- When it comes to decorating trees for Christmas, red and green continue to be the most popular color combination for homes and businesses, according to local designers.

"We've noticed a lot of the new apple green -- as opposed to the traditional Christmas green -- this year and last year, too," said Helen York, owner of Helen's Florist in Sikeston.

People still like to have traditional Christmases, York said.

"I love white and gold together, but I also love the red and green," York said. "We still get 10 to 1 who pick the red and green."

Loretta Buttry, manager/designer for The Flower Patch in Sikeston, said the majority of homes and businesses she's decorated for Christmas this year are the traditional red and green color combination.
