Litter bugs me

I live at Pharris Ridge and would like to say we once had a very nice neighborhood. People kept their yards and homes looking neat, but no more. Since we have had some of the laziest people move in our area, trash is in their yards and grass is up to your waist in the summertime. Their carports look like a flea market year round. God help us. Our nice homes will be worth nothing if we get a few more people like this in the neighborhood. Property values will go down tremendously. Also, it is a disgrace to Sikeston to see Highway 60 from Pharris Ridge to Stan's Carpet absolutely littered with white plastic bags. The fields are full too. Some of these stores that use plastic bags should have to pay the city of Sikeston a fee annually to hire someone to pick up these bags. It is such an eyesore for Sikeston. Someone should be held responsible.

Stranger danger

In response to the story "Law enforcement: Parents can teach children to use caution with strangers." I really like this article. I remember when I was a kid I was taught the value of stranger danger. Parents don't seem to teach that anymore and honestly it's sad. We as parents have to and I can not stress it enough. We have to talk to our children about things from stranger danger all the way down to the dreaded words that make people cringe - sexual abuse. If we don't teach them who will? The school system, government, their friends? People that...it's really not their jobs to teach them.? My whole point was to let you know I appreciated the article.

Be thankful for good coach

I would like to comment on the "No more Mr. Nice Guy and the tie is in the mail." I just want to say that Sikeston should thank its lucky stars that they have such an excellent basketball coach and excellent football coach. They just need to appreciate them.

No left turn

I was just wondering if the paper could do a public service announcement on the entrance into the Buffalo Wild Wings, Goodwill, that little strip mall there. There is a Do Not Enter sign there and people think they can still make a lefthand turn off of Main into that parking lot. That's been illegal since day one. That's why they put the traffic light there. Maybe if you put it on the front page and people see it they will quit doing it. There's been a lot of confusion and people arguing about it and maybe this will clear it up.
