Scott County Sheriff's deputies join national DWI crack down

Thursday, March 13, 2014

BENTON - Scott County Sheriff's deputies will be out in force today through Monday as part of the annual nationwide St. Patrick's Day holiday "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" crackdown on drunk driving.

Deputies will aggressively look for drunk drivers during the holiday crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving under the influence, according to a news release from the office of Sheriff Rick Walter.

Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign has reduced drunk-driving fatalities by 20 percent.

"By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Scott County's roadways safer for everyone throughout the holiday," Walter said.
