Preaching the word

In response to "Don't send them one red cent." Oh, I agree there are some ministries I wouldn't send one cent to. They're either trying to sell you vitamins or cinnamon bread and holy water. And I only read the KJV Bible, that's what I was raised on reading. The NIV leaves parts out. The Bible says if you add to or take away, your name shall be taken out of the book of life. My two all-time favorite preachers are Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggart. They both preach the word the way it is supposed to be, with hell fire and brimstone.

Moving on up

Sikeston is on the upswing. Three Rivers is expanding its local campus here. New businesses are coming to the Industrial Park. The LCRA has made great progress in the elimination of rundown properties. New moderately priced homes and condominiums started for working families have been sold and others are under construction. The local police have been extremely successful at running much of the criminal element out of our town. New restaurants have opened. A new hotel and a new dialysis unit are under construction in the south part of town. Our school system has not kept up. The proposed 20 percent increase in our real estate and property taxes will result in a huge improvement in our schools' safety, appearance and functionality. We must do it for our students. We must do it for our city's future. I urge all to vote yes on the school bond issue on April 8.

Enough is enough

I'm calling in regards to the school bond issue. I saw in there where people were talking about the buildings being 60 years old, 60-year-old wiring. I live in a house that's older than that with wiring older than that. I can't afford to fix my own house but you want me to help pay for a new school. I'm sorry, but I work a full time job plus another job. So does my wife. We can't afford it. What are they trying to do run everybody that's poor out of town? They need to scale it back and do a little at a time. They just spent a lot of money at the library at C building. Now you want to tear it down. It's not that old. That was a waste. There's too much waste going on with the school system. Using their theory of old stuff, three-fourths of Sikeston would be torn down. And then you wonder why nobody wants to vote for it. I'm sorry I can't vote for it. And those not paying, they don't care. They are going to go out and vote for it. They don't have to pay taxes, I do. I'm tired. Enough is enough.

Czech out the quote

This is a quote from the former premier of the Czech republic. He said, "Obviously we have a lot of work to do to repair the damage done. The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president."
