New Bar Codes
Wednesday, April 16, 2014
The Sikeston Public Library will be closed on Thursdays until the end of May to allow the staff to re-barcode the collection in preparation for joining the Missouri Evergreen circulation system in mid-June. With approximately 46,000 books in the collection, the closures will enable the library's staff along with volunteers to work solely on the re-barcoding, hopefully completing some 2,500 to 3,000 books each Thursday, said Ron Eifert, assistant director. When the change over to the new 14-digit barcode system is complete, the library's collection will be listed online through Missouri Evergreen.org and will provide patrons access to other library collections across the state.
