Very un-Common

I am assuming that the person that called in and got printed in the May 15 SpeakOut doesn't have children. She called in about Common Core. I hope she read Page 3 of that same paper. I see now why I couldn't help my grandson with his homework. The article was really a good one.

Reviewing requirements

This is about the article in the May 15 paper, "Against the Core." There may be 40 some states that's using it, or trying to. But there's a lot of states that are trying to repeal it. Take California, for instance. They are spending $2.1 billion to get $104 million in tax revenue. It's probably Common Core math. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. And the other issue is Southeast Elementary. At one time they had probably a page of honor roll students in the paper. Out of the blue it comes up that they have the worst test scores in the school district. They are the ones least pushing it big time on the Common Core at that school. Maybe look at the Common Core or the teachers. Maybe they are not up to par. And another issue was that the math that the teachers take. Any university, such as SEMO, you can take a higher math and learn a lot more on how to work it. So it would be good if maybe the state would requirements to graduate as a teacher that's not just a minimum requirement, but one that requires some actual thinking.
