First State Community Bank Customers Give to Kenyan Girls School

[WASHINGTON, MO] -- A group of First State Community Bank Horizons Club Members, with help from FSCB branches, recently raised enough money to purchase 10 new computers for a Kenyan Girls School.

The Horizons Club Members, escorted by Club Director and First State Community Bank employee Cheryl Byers, traveled to Kenya earlier this year. As part of the tour, they visited the PCEA Nanyuki Girls School.

"Their computers were dinosaurs to say the least. The students were happy to have them, but they were out of date," said Byers. "They even had floppy drives."

The group of travelers recognized the need and, among their close-knit group, decided to help the school. Using their own money and asking bank branches to match, the group purchased 10 new computers for the school.

"We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students we met on our trip. They are special to us," Brenda Barton, a Horizons Club Member said of the donation.

The Horizons Club, designed for customers age 50 and better, provides First State Community Bank Customers unique benefits -- including local and international travel opportunities.
