The Gideon School District has announced the opening day of school for the fall term will be Thursday, August 14, 2014. Open House will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The open house will begin with a general meeting in the cafeteria.

Students will begin classes on Thursday, August 14, for a full day. The school grounds will officially open at 7:50 a.m. each morning with classes beginning at 8:15 a.m. each day. School will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. each day.

New students in the district may register beginning Monday, August 4. New students must provide proof of residency such as a rent receipt or utility bill showing residency in the district. New students should bring birth certificates, health records, social security numbers, and academic information regarding their previous schools. Students will not be admitted to classes unless immunizations are current as required by Missouri law.

School bus routes are expected to be essentially unchanged. Breakfast service begins at 7:50 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be free to all students. The Gideon School District will be operating under a revised meal service policy that will allow all school children to eat a free breakfast and a free lunch without having to fill out a Family Application for Meal Benefits. This alternative is referred to as the Community Eligible Provision (CEP). There will be a charge for extra milk. This price will be $.30 cents per carton.
