Good mannered children

I take my first grade grandchild to Matthews Elementary in Sikeston every day. The bus monitors open the car door and wait for her to get out of the vehicle. Not once has either he or she failed to say, "Have a good day." That's so sweet, and I just wanted to let the school officials and the school monitors to know how much this is appreciated.

Cat/rat house

The next time the city wants to pass a tax to tear down these old houses, I'm voting no on it. There is a house on Sixth Street that has a for sale sign. It's got wild cats and rats living inside the house. I want it tore down. If the city can't tear it down, then they need to do something else. All I know is the house has rats running wild everywhere and they are in everybody's yard. It needs to be condemned and tore down.

Old time schoolin'

I agree with getting back to the three R's column. The teachers ought to get off their cellphones and iPads and teach these children how to spell or what 8 x 8 is. You'd be surprised the kids that get out of school that don't even know their multiplication tables. Get with it teachers. You are making more money than most occupations are right now.

I'm bugged out

Where can I go for help? The apartments I live in are so bug infested. It has been years since they have been sprayed. One of the tenants in an upstairs apartment lives in such filth, that the roaches are coming from there into my apartment. I'm desperate.
