Stay out of my yard

I live on Highway 60 and I wish the farmers would quit driving their tractors and combines across my front lawn. It makes my lawn as rough as a washboard. Or is this the thanks I get for helping to pass the right to farm law?

Landmarks needed

This is to the lady who put in Speakout about the garage sales of the week. I'm the one who doesn't understand the addresses. It would help if you mention something close by -- a landmark. There are so many of us who don't know where all the streets are but we know where the landmarks are at. I think it would be nice if the lady would do that So please help me by doing that.

Blocking my way

I live on Missouri Street here in Sikeston and we were trying to get down our road here today which we can not do because from the 400 block on the road is blocked on both sides. And don't tell me to call the cops because I did. The problem is that we have the code enforcement officer sitting there, so that is fine. What they need to do is start stopping them from blocking the road. They are no better than we are. If the people do something like that, you would get a ticket. But because we are code enforcement, we can do it.

Show some respect

On a recent trip out of state I picked up a local paper and in it was a letter to the editor. It was a veteran of our Afghani war and he wrote that he could not point guns at local citizens of the Afghani war in Afghan and that if he did he would have been court martialed. Don't unarmed citizens of our country deserve the same respect as the citizens of other countries. Also he made the statement that he could not fire upon citizens of Afghan or Iraq, even if they were firing on him, unless he was given a command to fire back. He made a point that all police need to have respect for the citizens they serve. They are there to protect and serve and basically they could all be better trained and that we should show our citizens the same respect that we show the citizens of country that we are at war with .

Mike is right

I was just reading Michael Jensen's editorial in today's paper and he is exactly right. Why would a drug store ban and not sell tobacco products and you can get liquor and all that stuff. Liquor kills as many people as cigarettes do or maybe more because the idiots get out there and drive. Every place around is selling and you walk in the store and the first thing you see is alcohol. That is just is just ridiculous. Mike is right that is just hypocrisy. If they want to ban one thing, they should ban all of it.
