Respect our vets

This is a concerned citizen. All the vets that were in Vietnam, Korea and Iraq don't get the respect that they should. These are the men and women that fought for our country. I feel like they should have respect. People should recognize them a lot more.

Leave politics out of issue

I guess it takes columnist Larry Elder to turn the NFL domestic violence issue into a political issue. How disgraceful of him. His column in the Sept. 22 Standard is deplorable. Domestic violence is a terrible issue. It's a terrible thing, whether it's against women or men. The NFL issue is with domestic violence toward women. Then columnist Larry Elder goes and digs up out of ancient history issues about items that he thinks are similar that all seem to be about Democrats. Well, Larry Elder, guess what? There are plenty of Republicans that do terrible things to women also. It's deplorable whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent or nothing at all. Leave the politics out of issues that are so important and don't go attacking national organizations for women. Get a grip, Larry.

Who cares

People always say try to report over here in the housing the people that are doing the drugs, selling pills and everything like that. When you do report it, there's nothing done about it. You drive through housing and you see new cars and everything else. I have reported many, many times on a person that is selling drugs and selling pills, been arrested. I have even talked face-to-face a person that is on the board and it's like 'who cares?' I guess why should we care? Just let them sell drugs around my grandmother, around kids. We have snitches that tell the people when they are fixing to do something. I found this out firsthand and confronted a board member. She's still selling pills, she's still living at the same address. I guess why do it. Just let them go ahead. Let them get out here and get killed or kill someone else. As long as they get a check for the rent, I guess that's what it's all about.

Good job

I read all your columns with interest and appreciation. Your War on Poverty is right on. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I see your under drawers

This is in response to "Pull them up," about the young men in Sikeston wearing their pants down where you can see their boxers or underwear. I've been in Sikeston under 10 years from Columbia, Mo., and they don't do that in Columbia, Mo. I think Sikeston is a little backward.
