Freezing rain could pose driving hazard
PADUCAH, Ky. - A freezing rain advisory is now in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory noting rain will change to freezing rain today as the temperatures fall below freezing.
"The freezing rain will fall on warm ground and amouts will be light, but it still may pose a hazard for area travelers, especially on elevated surfaces and roadways like bridges and overpasses" forecasters stated.
The freezing rain may briefly mix with sleet at times, according to the advisory, however the sleet should be brief and offer little additional hazard.
Forecasters stated ice accumulations in most areas should be light, although "amounts of a tenth of an inch or more are possible."
Drivers are urged to be prepared for slippery roads and slow down and use caution.
