SIKESTON - Two Sikeston High School students will perform with students from across Missouri in the All-State Choir.

Brenden Morgan, a junior, and Dalton Martin, a senior, were selected recently for the choir. They were among five students from SHS to audition for the select group.

According to Abraham H. Leach, Sikeston Public Schools secondary vocal music teacher, the All-State Choir is comprised of only 16 students from each district in the state. This spring the All-State Choir members will spend three days rehearsing with Allen Hightower the choral director at Luther College, one of the foremost choral schools in the country.

Leach praised the students' hard work and dedication which led to their selection for the All-State Choir.

"Their honor is important, in that they are among the best singers in the state of Missouri," Leach said. "Their dedication to singing and improving their voices has brought distinction to our school district."

Morgan and Martin were among 20 SHS students who participated in the All-District Choir in November.

For the All-District Choir, students had the opportunity to sing in a concert with the best singers in the District and were directed by three Missouri choral directors

Leach said the three directors told the students they should be proud and to celebrate the choral tradition and programs in the area "because we have something which is special."
