New Year comes marching in

Thursday, January 8, 2015

Wow, can you believe it? There are only 358 days left to Christmas! At this rate, I need to begin my Christmas shopping now while the selection is plentiful and the after Christmas Sales prices are still in effect!

Now, onto the New Year! I hope our readers and advertising customers have a blessed and joyous year.

2014 was better than 2013. I've had a couple of major issues that has affected my whole family. I am glad by the grace of God, we have worked through them.

One thing I have learned is do not forget God, and where He is in your relationships, whether it be in your own family, co-workers and your place of worship.

When you think you are making the right decisions, sooner or later, there will be something that will creep up that will take you down.

For those of you that do know me, I usually attend church every Sunday. For me not to do that, there must be something wrong. I will not expound on those reasons here, not going was of my own choosing. My thinking was and still is to some degree, why attend a worship service, and you know things are wrong, and not as it should be? When you know there are people that smile at you, then stab you in the back when you leave. I realize that the church is a hospital for sinners, but I hope they would want to seek to be sinners saved by God's grace, not seeking selfish ambitions. I realize that not all are perfect, and not all religious organizations are going to make and do things just to make you happy. If we were all the same, then why are we here? We each have a purpose and your purpose in for you to find out from God! You need to ask Him.

The other night I felt like I was hit by a brick! Flipping through the television channels, I ran across the movie "Courageous". The movie depicted four men that wanted to improve their relationships with their family, especially their sons; their co-workers; and within their place of worship. The men were about to sign a pact stating as such. However, they were warned that by doing so, they would be tested of their faith. They were not just signing a piece of paper, but a spiritual commitment between themselves and God, their families, their co-workers, and their fellow body of believers.

So, for thinking I was doing the right thing for Me was not what God had intended for me to do at all. I believe God sees and hears all, and knows where we are and what we do. There comes a time for us to stop and see the roses, stop and see the larger size of the picture. In the Book of Psalms 46:10 reads, "Stand silent! Know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation in the world!" The Living Bible.

Far too often, members of the church today have been trying to bring the world into the church, instead of doing what all are commanded to do, to take the church to the world. Look at all of the immoral issues facing us today.

My challenge for me, and I guess my New Year Resolution, is the be more "Courageous". Would you join me?
