Sikeston High School students recognized

SIKESTON -- Madison Lancaster and Mark Layton Jones were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for January.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names a male and female senior each month. Character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability are criteria used to select one "Student of the Year" at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Lancaster is the daughter of Jay and Camille Lancaster. She played girls tennis and is a member of Future Teachers of America, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Red Peppers. Her hobbies include playing the guitar and bass in her church's praise team, sewing, learning sign language and working at Parengo Coffee.

Jones, who is the son of Kris Noe and Michael Jones, is a member of the Sikeston Bums and plays tennis and soccer. His hobbies include playing soccer, hanging out with friends, working out at the YMCA and playing basketball in the WHL.
