BENTON -- The fourth installment in a paranormal romance novel series by a Scott County author will be released March 4.

"Absolution," -- the fourth book in "The Three Crowns" series by Sonya Ray of Benton will continue to follow part-human Lizzie through her transition from teenager to adult and how she copes with change.

"I want to stress it's a good, old fiction book," Ray said of her vampire series. "I'm not into satanic stories."

The first installment, "Sweet Tea," was published in October 2013. In this book, the characters start their senior year at Benton high school. Main character Lizzie's seemingly normal life takes a turn when she meets a mysterious stranger at Fox Meadows.

"All the paranormal is wrapped up in it as well," the author said.

The second volume, "North," published in April 2014, follows Lizzie as she goes off to college, and searches for answers about her changing life, Ray said. The third volume, "Broken Boundaries" was released in September 2014. In it, Lizzie focuses on her place in the human world while others try to keep her safe from the Night World.

Ray said feedback on her books is very positive. "Sweet Tea," so far, is a big favorite among readers, but Ray predicted "Absolution" will also be a favorite because of the development of the main character.

"Lizzie is getting stronger and finding herself," Ray said of her latest volume. "She's not so timid and stepping up to the plate, per se. She grew up with money, but she likes a simple life -- blue jeans, fishing on the bank, but she was surrounded with money. She's always timid because her dad would always expect certain things of her."

Lizzie is coming into herself in her newest book, Ray said.

"She's finding herself as a human; she's not completely human, but she doesn't know that," Ray said. "The whole series is about choices. You get this life and just because this is the hand you've been dealt doesn't mean you have to be a bad person. You have to decide what choices you're going to make."
