Removal of Miner mayor once again placed on meeting agenda
Meeting set for Tuesday
MINER -- Members of the Miner Board of Aldermen who want to get rid of the mayor Tuesday will have to talk him into resigning as impeachment is not an option.
At the request of Janet Williams, "Removal of Mayor from Office" appears on toward is the bottom of the agenda for the Board's regular monthly meeting set for Tuesday.
In a Friday email, Tabatha Thurman, city attorney, advised the Board that "Missouri law provides only one method to remove a member of the Board of Alderman from office: Impeachment."
Requirements for impeachment are set by state statute and very specific.
"The mayor would have had to have done something that would hinder his ability to adequately perform his duties as mayor," Thurman said.
