It goes on and on

Where is code enforcement? You drive around town, and look at the junk. There's a Christmas tree at one house. So much junk at the side of it, they must be hoarders. The list goes on and on. One house has so much junk that you can barely see the house. I'm thinking about selling my house, and if this hurts my property value, me and the city of Sikeston are gonna have a problem.

Same story, different people

I read David Jenkins' article about Miner, Mo., board meetings. I totally agree. I wrote an article a few years ago to SpeakOut about the same issues, but you did not print any of my comments. I used no bad language, but almost the same story David wrote. The only thing different was I wrote mine about the Mississippi County Commission. They are on the same brainwaves as Miner, Mo. I read about Miner and I laughed. I take more interest in Mississippi County. I do not live in Mississippi County any longer, but I still pay taxes there. Mississippi County is a dying county. Thirty years ago a new commission came in. Not one had an idea what the state statutes were and never read one page of the statutes. Twenty-five years later they are spending taxpayers' money and the city's on the county, which it's not responsible for.

One's not a stooge

We enjoyed Mr. Jenkins' article about the board meeting in Miner, which is basically true, only there is one thing missing. We do have one board member that is very knowledgable and knows the business. She should not be lumped in with the three stooges that cause all the trouble in Miner.
