Weekend homicide in Kennett; arrest made

KENNETT - A suspect is in custody for a weekend murder in Kennett.

Carolette K. Hamilton, 24, originally of Caruthersville was found murdered in her Kennett, according to a news release from the Kennett Police Department.

Police discovered the scene while conducting a wellness check at the residence, which is located in the 900 block of Floyd Courts. Hamilton's family had contacted police because she had not been heard from in several days.

At this time, a suspect is in custody at the Dunklin County Jail. Because the suspect has not been formally charged, no name has been released, but the news release did specify that the subject is a male from Homestown, a village of 150 people located in northern Pemiscot County. Detectives arrested the suspect after interviewing several witnesses.

Investigating agencies included the Kennett Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dunklin County Sheriff's Office, and Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office. Anyone with information is asked to call Kennett Police Captain Tim Trowbridge at 573-888-4622.
