Shot fired in Steele, man is arrested
STEELE - An assault rifle, handgun along with drugs packaged for sale were found during an investigation by Steele Police Wednesday.
During the early morning hours Wednesday, Steele Officer Jon Grays heard a gunshot and a short time later a man reported to police he had been shot at, according to Chief Billy Joe Stanfield
During the course of investigation, Pemiscot County deputies and Grays conducted a felony traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle.
"The suspect was detained by officers and found inside the suspect's car was a 9mm handgun, SKS assault rifle, several rounds of ammunition and baggies of purported marijuana which were packaged for sale," Stanfield said in a news release.
Jonathan Lewis Foreman, 29 of Steele was arrested by officers. He is being held at the Pemiscot County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Bond is set at $75,000.
Additional charges may be filed against Foreman, said Stanfield, who also thanked the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department for their quick response and assistance at the scene.
