Sikeston JV gets first round win at Notre Dame tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston junior varsity basketball team opened its season with a 76-36 victory over Ste. Genevieve in the first round of the Notre Dame JV Boys Tournament on Wednesday night at Notre Dame High School.

Sikeston exploded with a 29-9 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Sophomore Don Larry led the Bulldogs with 29 points on 12 of 14 shooting. He also had eight steals.

Freshman Trey Jenkins had 12 points with seven rebounds, six assists, five steals and five blocks.

Sophomore Dylon Mills scored 11 points with eight rebounds while sophomore Titus Fields followed up with 10 points.

Ste. Genevieve was led by Derek Morganthaler's 10 points and Xavier Boyd's nine points.

Sikeston will play Jackson on Friday in the semifinals of the tournament.
