Council supports plan to get traffic lights backed up
SIKESTON -- Traffic signals at Sikeston's major intersections will soon be as dependable as a computer with battery backup.
Jay Lancaster, public works director for Sikeston, said making arrangements to get traffic signals in the city equipped with uninterrupted power supply units was something city staff and Council members discussed during the last budget preparation process.
The units are "battery backups for our traffic signals," Lancaster said, which are pretty much "a larger version of a computer battery backup system."
