School board races form for April election
SIKESTON -- Filing for local school board ended Tuesday, setting races for the April 5 election.
Voters in the Sikeston R-6 School District will choose two of the following candidates: John Graham, Scott Crumpecker and Rebecca Steward. Crumpecker and Steward currently hold the positions, which are three-year terms.
In the Scott County R-4 "Kelly" School District, incumbents Kindel Ward and John Felter filed for candidacy along with Kellie Bridges, Jerry Wolsey and Roger Neumeyer.
A school board race is also set in New Madrid County R-1 district as Scott Riley, Ryan Eddy and Jenny Cope filed for the two available positions in the district. The two incumbents are Eddy and Don Brittain, who opted not to seek re-election.
Other school districts' boards were set after Tuesday if the number of candidates equaled the number of positions available.
In Portageville, Micah Rone and Michael Prince filed for candidacy for the two positions currently held by Rone and Mike Kellams. Kellams chose not to file.
Terms held by Scott County Central School Board of Education members Steve Johnson and Melette Pobst will expire in April, and filing for those positions were Pobst and Travis Glueck.
East Prairie R-2 School District's two incumbents, Ron Carter and Darrin Davis, filed for re-election to the board.
In the Charleston R-1 School District, three-year terms held by David Harris and Clark Dugan will end in April. As of Tuesday afternoon, the only candidate filing was Harris.
When only one candidate files and there are two positions available, the school board will appoint a member until the next available election.
