Roosevelt Road?

We were wondering why Martin Luther King was being honored on Jan. 18? What about President Franklin Roosevelt? They don't have a day set aside for him. If it hadn't been for him, we wouldn't have unemployment benefits and Social Security benefits. Hey, if you're gonna honor Dr. King, then you need to honor President Roosevelt also. I think there's more people that would stand beside me on that comment.

They don't give a heck

I live in Heckemeyer Acres. I've been out here 30 some years, and it keeps getting worse and worse because we have these lovely renters who don't care anything about their property. They throw their trash where ever it can go. We have people who have dogs and they let them run loose, tear up other people's yards, poop everywhere so we can carry it in our houses. I have dogs. I have cats. But they stay on my property. I'm so tired of the people who don't care about our area. If you don't like it, move out, and let someone move in who will keep our area clean. And please, lock your dogs up.

You get back what you give

A little food for thought. This is about the complaints about not any of the minorities being awarded an Oscar. I'm not prejudiced. The pastor I want for my funeral is a wonderful black man. He was one of the first of four black men that I went to junior high school with in 1963. Whoopi Goldberg said on a national TV show, The View, how can a minority get elected when you go to the movies and no blacks in the theaters supporting their actors. I will add this. The college sports are dominated by black athletes, 60 percent in football and 80 percent in basketball. My point is look in the stands. It's 99 percent whites supporting the sports so they can play. Put your dollars where your mouth is. If you show support with hard-earned money, you will be noticed, not by wanting something and not investing anything.
