Rising up and digging down

BMU is asking for a rate increase again. Why don't they put it toward the people? I'd say 80 percent of the people living in Sikeston come here for the low electricity. I can't see how the trash, the water and the electricity have all gone up. This is getting ridiculous. There are other trash companies that could take the bids. I don't understand why BMU is asking for a rate increase. The second thing is I'm glad they have started cleaning out some of the ditches over here on North Ingram. But they need to go through town. It's the city of Sikeston's job to keep the ditches cleaned out so when we have these heavy rains people's yards don't flood. They don't have to wait for federal assistance, it's the city's job. They have their own excavator. I don't understand why they're subcontracting all this out. The city has their own excavator. Why don't they dig their own ditches out?

Main Street should stay Main Street

Recently I saw a gentleman on KFVS-TV stating the Main Street in Sikeston WILL be changed to Martin Luther King Street. This gentleman was almost speaking in a threatening way, as if it wasn't done, Sikeston would regret it. My family has lived in Sikeston for years. Like communities in St. Louis, we have seen a change in our town. We need to return to Christian values. Work together to bring our town back to a good place to raise our children and grandchildren. The Rev. Martin Luther King would not support division. He was a peace-loving man, not dividing a town, not threatening. Let's bring peace and values back to our town once more.
