In the New Testament book of James, James the half-brother of our Lord writes, "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;" (1:19). The great theme of James is works. James teaches that faith without works is dead. He deals with the man-ward aspect of the Christian life. James emphasizes what Jesus said when he uttered these words, "By their fruits you will know them" (Matt 7:20).
