Sikeson QB Nathan Hampton signs with Central Methodist University
FAYETTE, Mo. -- Nathan Hampton enjoyed the facility Central Methodist University had to offer. He liked the opportunity to play football for the Eagles even more.
The Sikeston senior recently signed his letter of intent to play football for Central Methodist in Fayette, Mo.,
"The campus was nice," Hampton said. "I feel like it would be a good fit for me. The facilities are nice and I felt like that would be good overall."
Hampton (5-11, 155) led the Bulldogs to a 7-4 record last season and finished with 1,205 yards passing and 11 touchdowns. His preparation routine bred from his time with the Bulldogs is something he'll take with him to the next level.
"Watch lots of film and really work on reps in practice," Hampton said. "Getting a feel for the game."
Hampton will also serve on the kick/punt team with the Eagles where he was an all-conference punter. He went 33 for 37 (89 percent) on extra points. He averaged 35.8 yards on 32 punts.
His plan once on campus is to hit the weight room, get stronger and get acclimated with the college life.
"It'll be faster," Hampton said. "They always have good athletes and some are going on to play at the next level."
Central Methodist competes at the NAIA level and is part of the Heart of America Conference. The Eagles were 3-8 last season.
