Four Additional Counties to Receive Disaster Assistance

JEFFERSON CITY -- Gov. Jay Nixon today announced that four more Missouri counties will receive disaster assistance, after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved his request to expand last month's federal major disaster declaration for historic flooding in late December and early January. Local governments and nonprofit agencies in Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot and Shannon counties now can seek federal assistance in response and recovery expenses associated with the flooding and severe weather, including damage to public infrastructure.
