Dumey earns spot as the salutatorian for SCC Class of '16

SIKESTON -- McKayla B. Dumey was honored as the salutatorian at graduation ceremonies held May 13, 2016, at Scott County Central High School.

The daughter of Joe and Tabitha Dumey, her activities include: vice president of membership for FBLA, FCCLA, vice president of Beta Club, vice president of the National Honor Society, Science Club, co-treasurer of Student Council, Yearbook, Jazz, Concert and Marching Band and class vice president.

McKayla has participated as a Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, FBLA March of Dimes Walk, FCCLA Trick or Treat for canned goods, FCCLA Family Game Night, National Honor Society Make a Wish Fundraiser and she also lays the piano.

Scholarships include: James M. Drickey Elementary Education, Louise Bender Roth Early Education, A+, Aquilla Blissett Memorial, SCC All School Foundation, Statler Memorial, SCC CTA, SCC PTO Scholarships, Perfect Attendance Award, Gold Calculus Award, Gold Spanish II award, FCCLA Gold District winner, FCCLA Silver State winner, FBLA Business Achievements Awards and second place in Public Service Announcement.

She is the granddaughter of Jerry and Theresa McNew of Sikeston, Steve and Effie Hughes of Morehouse, Joseph Dumey of Alton, Ill. and the late Mary Lou Behringer.
