The announcement of Sikeston High School's newest baseball coach is expected to be released either Thursday or Friday according to Sikeston athletic director Andy McGill.

Current assistants with the baseball team were evaluated for the open position as were other employees within the school district.

The Bulldogs baseball team is looking to replace former head coach Alan Scheeter, who resigned in June, after five seasons.

Scheeter stepped away from the baseball program citing that his other responsibilities as a teacher, assistant football coach and newly appointed A-plus coordinator with the Sikeston school district were stretching him thin.

Scheeter had a career coaching record of 74-47 and made one appearance in a district championship game in 2013.
