Be Angry and Sin Not

Thursday, August 18, 2016

In Mark 3:5 we read that Jesus became angry at the hardness of heart of the Pharisees. Mark records for us these words, "And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other." The phrase "with anger" reflects a settled disposition against all sin and hypocrisy. This is the sort of anger Jesus had, not a sudden, impulsive outburst or the malicious desire to seek vengeance. The anger of God is controlled, righteous response toward sin. Jesus' reaction here is consistent with His divine nature and proves that He is the righteous son of God.
